This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette is a St. Louis-built convertible finished in Riverside Red over red vinyl with a white soft top and sold new by Bill Allen Chevrolet in North Kansas, Missouri. The car was reportedly restored in the late 1990s with new paint and a rebuild of its numbers-matching L75 327ci V8, and is said to have been repainted again in 2003. This 4-speed C2 was offered by the selling dealer with a factory hardtop, owners kit, original dealer invoice, 50 years of records, photos from the 1990s work, and a clean California title.
The late 1990s work included a repaint in correct Riverside Red (923), and a second repaint is reported to have taken place in 2003. The current condition of the finish is illustrated in detail in the image gallery. Photos show the white soft top both raised and lowered. A color-matched removable hardtop is included.
Mounted with Toyo whitewall tires, factory-style turbine wheels feature knock- off hub covers and are believed to be reproduction units.
The interior was refreshed with new upholstery and carpets in the correct red as detailed up close in the gallery below. The car was ordered with factory air conditioning, and a vertically-mounted period Delco AM/FM radio remains present. The 5-digit odometer shows just over 5k miles, with true mileage unknown.
The trim tag located below the glovebox door provides the following production details: K01 Produced July 01, 1964 Style 64 867 1964 Convertible Trim 490AB Red vinyl Body S-10696 St. Louis Paint 923AA Riverside Red
The rebuilt numbers-matching 327ci V8 was rated by Chevrolet at 300 horsepower and sends power to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear end.
The engine block stamping reads 121019, matching the last six digits of the VIN plate.
Numerous photos are included in the gallery to illustrate the condition of the underside and mechanicals.
The original dealer invoice shows a purchase price of $4,368 as well as detailing factory options and specifications. Additional items accompanying the sale include an owners kit, a Bloomington Survivor Award from prior to the 1990s work, ownership history, restoration photos, and receipts dating back nearly 50 years. |
